Things to See & Do in Eden
The beautiful coastal town of Eden is located on NSW South Coast, known as “The Sapphire Coast” due to its beautiful, clean sapphire coloured coastal waters. Eden is just 20km or a 15 minute drive from Merimbula airport, currently serviced by REX Airlines. Eden is 550 km north of Melbourne and 575km south of Sydney and a 3 hour drive south/east from Canberra (250km). Coachman’s Eden is situated opposite the Eden Golf Club and within easy walking distance of beautiful Lake Curalo, a coastal lake, which has a boardwalk leading you around the lake to pristine Aslings Beach. Black swans, pelicans and a range of birds and lake fauna can be seen on your walk.
Eden – Gateway to the South Coast
Eden is located on the shores of Twofold Bay. Surrounded by Ben Boyd National Park and breathtaking beaches, this little town will definitely take your breath away.
From Sydney and Melbourne, Eden is approximately a 6 hour drive. From Canberra, a little over 3 hours. Merimbula Airport is just down the road (only about 20 minutes drive) and has daily flights to and from Sydney and Melbourne.
Eden has year round activities, which include: Whale watching, Fishing, Bush walks and hiking in National Parks, Golf, Beaches, Museum, Magic Mountain (for the kids) plus much more.
Gravity Eden MTB Trails
Get ready for an adrenaline-fueled experience at Gravity Eden MTB Trails with 58km of premium built singletracks along with asphalt pump track and a huge dirt jumps track.
Conquer gravity-defying descents and navigate nature's rollercoaster through the wild Nullica Forest to the shores of Twofold Bay.
Eden Killer Whale Museum
Eden’s history is steeped in the history of the sea and has the most interesting story about shore-based whaling, which extended from 1828 to 1930.
The museum is open daily (except on Christmas Day).

Whale Watching
Whale sight-seeing cruises begin in September and operate to late November.
Daily cruises operate during this time of year aboard Cat Balou Cruises and Freedom Charters.
Fishing
Eden is fantastic for fishing and there are places perfect for the kids to fish as well. Excellent boat ramps and trailer parking are located at Quarantine Bay and Eden.
Both locations are very popular …… you won’t be disappointed!
If you do not have a boat, Freedom Charters provides deep sea fishing, as well as pleasure cruises.
Magic Mountain
A family fun park located in Merimbula, which is about 20 minutes drive from Eden. With rides and activities for the whole family.
Swimming, surfing, kayaking and diving
Eden’s beautiful beaches are pristine and offer loads of swimming and surfing opportunities. Aslings Beach is patrolled in summer and is a safe swimming beach. There is also a pet friendly area to the northern end of the beach and the foreshore area has a skatepark and amenities.
Lake Curalo
Lake Curalo is an intermittently closing estuary located just 400m from Coachman’s Eden. The lake has a boardwalk that circles the entire lake and leads to Aslings Beach. The boardwalk is a flat, easy walk that meanders around the lake’s shore, through melaleuca forest, across salt marsh, with an array of birdlife on display, it leads on to the estuary mouth. It is accessible for prams, wheelchairs and bikes and there are rest stops along the way.
Golf
Eden golf course, known as Eden Gardens Country Club, is just one of the several beautiful golf courses located in the region for golfing enthusiasts. Coachman’s Eden is just 100m south of the golf club entrance.
Bird Watching
Spectacular birdlife can be admired at any of the local beaches, marshes or national parks. Lake Curalo offers an array of wonderful species. Lake Curalo has a boardwalk surrounding the lake. Access to Lake Curalo’s boardwalk is only a 400m stroll from Coachman’s Eden.
National Parks
Eden is home to beautiful national parks, which have tracks to enable you to explore nature at its very best.
Ben Boyd National Park: Located around Eden with access 8km to the North and 18km to the South, Ben Boyd National Park offers various walking and exploring opportunities for coastal settings. It offers swimming and picnicking in the most spectacular locations.
Mount Imlay: Located 30km south of Eden, Mount Imlay allows you to explore remote bushland and unspoilt nature. There is a 3km track that takes approximately 3 hours to walk and it has a picnic area.
Views and Experiences
Spectacular views of the clear sapphire waters can be seen from many viewing/lookout points available in and around Eden. Viewing points are the perfect place to take in the magnificent coastline and witness the annual whale migration.
Additionally, your experience could be enhanced by taking in a scenic joy flight to capture the Sapphire Coast from the air. There are opportunities to explore the area on Horseback or hire a mountain bike. You can plan a day driving the Coast Road Art Trail and experience local art and food.
